Exhibit in Bellevue, October 6th – November 30th, 2017
Best known for her unique use of materials and inventive painting techniques, Alicia Tormey is a painter whose work bridges the gap between representation and abstraction. Blending bees wax, shellac and pigment, Tormey uses a blowtorch to cultivate these materials into ethereal images of distant landscapes, waterways and organic flora. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and public collections throughout the United States.
“A lifelong fascination with wind power, ocean tides and water currents is a constant source of inspiration for me as a painter. In my works I attempt to capture the impact of these elements in a suspension of time and space that feels organic and spontaneous.” -Alicia Tormey
