The most influential experience for Cheryl Ekstrom was studying and working as an emerging artist while living in Europe, especially Belgium. Ekstrom admired the Old World, Flemish and Parisian artists and how they lived art. Their philosophy seemed so natural, and the artist appreciated the difference from our everyday hurried lives. This fast-paced lifestyle and the way people busy themselves seemed so unnatural. Currently, Cheryl Ekstrom is living art and continues to sculpt. In her latest series, Stable Inhabitants of a Changing World, she cast mid-century modern furniture icons with the hope to define the intersection between fine art and design.
